I simply don’t get it. I’m all in favor of it, of course. But the iTunes DRM has been the single reason I’ve pushed friends towards other mp3 players.
The tradeoff Steve Jobs is proposing was the single biggest reason for labels to provide iTunes with all that music. It was safe. It was secure. It was also the reason for people to buy iPods. Sure the iPod has a great interface and is easy to use, but so are plenty of other players. You can read the Steve Jobs “Thoughts on Music” here.
In fact, Creative was suing Apple over the iPod’s navigation system, alleging that it infringes on Creative’s patents.
Not the first time Creative and Apple are butting heads. If you recall, Creative put out their Nano first.
Apple suggests dropping DRM to labels
